About Our Founder

Bridget O. Davis is a registered ER nurse, a member of the Brown Girl Book Club, and a published author who has written three books. She founded The Pocono Mountains Film Festival when she could not find a place to pitch the screenplay she had written for one of her books.

By creating this innovative showcase, she was able to secure the talents of Billy Dee Williams to open her independent film, "Henry's Heart". For a woman that grew up in the projects of Harlem after the Vietnam War, this was a major accomplishment.

Now, she wants to help other creative people realize their dreams. Her goal is to share indie films and screenplays from little-known directors, filmmakers, and writers. She also wants to give people the chance to mingle with celebrities on the red carpet.

Michael Spinks "PMFF Lifetime Achievement Award"
1976 Olympic Gold Medalist
Light Heavyweight Champion of the World 1981-1985
Heavyweight Champion of the World 1985-1988

Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, which he refers to as the "Show Me" state, Michael Spinks first began making boxing history when every member of his United States Olympic team in 1976 won gold medals in Montreal, Canada. The outstanding and gifted athletes on the team included his brother Leon Spinks, "Sugar" Ray Leonard, Howard Davis, John Tate and Leo Randolph.
Michael's defeat of Larry Holmes, who was on a quest to tie Rocky Marciano's record of 49-0 as the heavyweight champion, made boxing history, when he became the first world light-heavyweight champion since Tommy Burns in 1908 to win the world heavyweight title. His controversial victory over Holmes was named Ring Magazine Upset of the Year. With this victory, Michael and his brother Leon Spinks had also become the first pair of brothers ever to be world heavyweight champions, followed two decades later by Wladimir and Vitail Klitscko.
In 1986, Michael and Holmes fought a rematch, and had nearly the same result, this time Spinks winning by a 15 round split decision. Stripped of the crown by the IBF to fight their mandatory challenger, Tony Tucker, and accepting a higher offer to fight Gerry Cooney instead, Spinks knocked Cooney out in five rounds, and went on to lose by knock-out in June 1988 in the first round to Mike Tyson.
A week later, Michael Spinks retired from boxing at the age of 32, with a record of 31 wins and 1 loss, with 21 wins by knockout as a professional.
In addition to his success as a heavyweight, Michael is considered one of the greatest light-heavyweight champions and fighters of all times.
